Di seguito un commento della Prof. Klimi-Zacas (University of Maine – USA) sulla opportunità di collaborazione internazionale:
It is a great pleasure and honor to write about the crucial, fruitful and scientifically fulfilling collaboration I have had the opportunity to develop with Marisa Porrini during the last six years that has resulted in technology transfer between Italy and the US, in graduate student training, mentoring and financial support, student and scholar exchanges between the University of Milan and the University of Maine and formal signing of a research agreement between the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture at the University of Maine and the College of Agriculture at the University of Milan.
Our collaboration started in 2007 and has continued to this day successfully with the initiation of many international research project studying the role of food bioactives on chronic disease, enabling us to collaborate with scientists from other disciplines and other European countries, involving both graduate and undergraduate students in research, promoting graduate student and scholar visits between our two laboratories, receiving Cariplo and Fulbright fellowships to support financially students, scholars and research projects and publish extensively. Additionally, this collaboration has offered educational opportunities to Italian graduate students to apply for successful entrance to doctoral degree programs in US Universities as well as short-term visits to major US research centers.
I would like to emphasize that the ability to recognize the talents and also to create an extremely harmonious and inspiring environment among colleagues, so different than other scientific environments I had been exposed to in the past, has contributed to the creative work that was determinant in my decision to continue my collaboration with the University of Milan thus aiding in increasing scientific knowledge, promoting international education and creating bridges between our two nations.
